Timber mouldings give period properties huge amounts of character and depth. But, if you’ve taken on a restoration project, you’ll know that finding the right mouldings, in the right wood, for the right price, isn’t exactly easy.
Previous owners could have damaged or removed the features, or you may be looking to extend a property and replicate the design. Some timber mouldings can be restored, but others may benefit from being replaced.
A lot of period properties have timber mouldings that are now virtually impossible to get hold of. Luckily for you, we have the largest range in the country. Alongside our range of 21st-century mouldings, we have a large catalogue of period ones. Some of which are designed from mouldings that are more than 150 years old; confirmed by research from the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Making your dream period mouldings
Our machine and match service means that if we don’t have an exact match for your mouldings or your own design, we’ll make it for you. All we need is a detailed drawing or a sample, and we’ll manufacture the mouldings just for you. We can also alter any of our stock profiles.
Our range of timber mouldings
Taking on a period restoration may mean that you want the materials true to the era of the house. MDF, therefore, is less than likely to be an option, although we do stock it. Our wood options include both pine and American white oak. One thing you’ll notice about our timber mouldings is that there are a lot fewer knots and the knots that you may get are a lot smaller. The grain is also much tighter than on your average mouldings, making it much easier to work with.
Your period property restoration is probably going to leave you needing a range of mouldings. Here are just some of the types that we offer:
- Architrave
- Dado
- Picture rail
- Cornice
- Scotia
- Beading
