What's the difference between paint and stain?
Paint sits on the surface and therefore covers the wood whereas stain soaks into the wood and colours. Stain allows you to see the beauty of the wood.
Painting coats the top of the wood while a stain penetrates the wood. Stain protects and preserves the beauty of your wood compared to paint which covers and hides it. The stain wears away gradually for periodic re-coating. Paint peeling requires extensive scraping.
